Where do Tornadoes come from?

Tornadoes are created when warm, humid air from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean collide with cold, dry air from Canada. This collision creates an unstable atmosphere that can cause thunderstorms. When thunderstorms form, the warm, humid air rises, while the cold, dry air sinks. This creates an area of low pressure in the atmosphere, which in turn starts to rotate. This rotation creates an invisible column of air called a mesocyclone. As the mesocyclone rises, it starts to suck in air from the surrounding area, creating a funnel cloud. If the mesocyclone continues to grow, it will eventually touch the ground and become a tornado.
